My Favorite Five
Cottage and Vine is hosting a link party called Five Favorites
The question is - If you are going away for the weekend and can only take five products, in your cosmetic bag, what would they be.
Ok - so I'm on this serious philosophy kick right now. I tend to get hooked on one product line at a time. I wait months and then finally get up the courage to go to Sephora. The store overwhelms me and I get a serious case of anxiety if I stay there too long.
I purchased a starter kit from Sephora and my skin has never looked better. So, I would definitely bring Philosophy's Purity Cleanser and their new Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturize, and the Amazing Grace Perfume. In the starter kit I used their Hope in a Jar moisturizer, which wasn't bad, and their Hope in a Jar SPF 20 moisturizer - WHICH I HATE! It's all greasy and oily. I hear they've reformulated the moisturizer with SPF, but it has scarred me for life so I won't be trying it. The Miracle Worker moisturize is AMAZING - I love the way it feels on my skin. I have to agree with Rene of Cottage and Vine - Great Lash Mascara is my go to mascara also. I learned a long time ago that you don't have to put eye shadow on, just mascara to look "done". And finally, I would bring Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer. It's lightweight and evens out my skin tone.

1. My husband's surgery yesterday went very well. He's home recovering for the next couple of days. I'm very thankful that everything went so well.
2. I'm very excited about going to Houston tomorrow. My youngest sister and I are taking a quick weekend trip to shop at Ikea. She just moved into to her very first apartment and needs a few things. I'll be looking at storage options for my craft/laundry room.
3. I'm loving the World Cup action!
4. My new philosophy perfume smells so good!
5. I'm very happy that I was able to clean the house yesterday before we left for his surgery.
Have a fantastic Thursday! It's almost the weekend!

Getting to Know You
A super fun blog carnival..where MannLand5 comes up with 8 questions..She answers them..you answer them..then you link up..It's a great way to get to know your fellow bloggers and make some friends.
2. The best thing I ever won is....?
I'm trying to remember if I've ever won anything.
3. Have you ever skyped with a bloggy friend?
No. I've just begun blogging
4. What is your favorite Summer month?
July. My birthday is at the end of the month and it's not as hot as August.
5. Pool, Lake, or Ocean?
Pool, but not a public pool. Lake before public pool even though I don't like the idea of fish & other animals in the water. I hate sand, so ocean is out.
6. One of my favorite Summer memories is.....?
Spending 2 weeks every summer at my grandmother's. Somehow it didn't bother us that they didn't have air conditioning, cable or a phone in the country.
7. What's your favorite secret bargain?
Using my friend's employee discount at Talbot's. Unfortunately, she no longer works there.
8. Do you plan on or have you been watching the World Cup?
Watched the US/England game yesterday. I think I'm hooked!
1. If you could have one of Superman's, powers which one would you want? Superhuman strength..Flight..Superhuman speed..X-Ray vision..etc
Superhuman Speed - I'd be able to get more done in a day

Which way do I go?
I've decided that I'm not making the most of this blogging thing. I originally started a blog just to join in a sew along and enter contests. After following so many others blogs, I've decided that I should actually try blogging. The problem is that I have no idea what to write about.
I'm going to blog at least 3 times per week, Here are a few of the topics I thought to write about:
What I'm cooking? (highlight a new recipe or new food that I'm cooking)
What I'm working on? (sewing, knitting, etc)?
What I'm reading? (highlight a blog, book)
Link up Party (Thursday 5 or another one)
Fascinating Friday (something that I've found on the web or have heard about that I'd like to share)

I'm hoping that I'll find out what I like to write about and will then be able to refocus my blog to a specific topic(s).

1. I'm still employed and I'm still full-time. Our company has had many cutbacks this year. I'm one of the few to still be getting 40 hours.
2. I love my new lavendar hand lotion! The smell is so calming and my hands are super soft!
3. I'm excited to be going out this evening with my husband & co-workers! It should be an adventure - the Tiki Hut on the Diversion Canal.
4. I'm registering for cooking classes this Saturday with Kay Ewing's Everyday Gourmet.
5. And my puppy just really makes me happy. I love when he wags his stumpy tail at me!
Be sure to check out her giveaway too! A $60 gift certificate to CSN! All you have to do is leave a comment!

Bright Idea Award...
Goes to my friend Katie of The Voice at the Other End of the Line! We had a wonderful lunch at Superior Grill with an old friend from high school. It was so nice to catch up with Amber and see what she's been doing for the last sixteen years (YIKES - 16 years!).
